Pin a height at one point on the road and the rest re-derives around it — you don’t need to set every piece by hand. Use the Elevation tool (G) and drag a corner up or down, or select a piece and read or type its height directly in the inspector’s Elevation section.
How steep is too steep
The inspector reports the steepest grade on the selected piece — not the average — as a plain word (Level, Gentle, Moderate, Steep, or Won’t climb) next to the number, banded against your circuit’s RC scale. See Scale & Units for why the limit is different at different scales. A grade past the comfortable range is flagged as you go rather than blocked, so you can still build it if you want to.
When a raised run needs support
Once a piece is high enough to need something holding it up, Circuit Builder builds that support for you, and what it builds depends on the course type:
- On Touge courses, a raised run becomes ground the road is cut into — packed out from the floor, and bored through wherever the circuit needs to pass underneath it. This is the tunnel you’ll see on a mountain-pass course that loops back over itself.
- On Competition and City courses, a raised run becomes a deck on concrete columns, with open floor between them and a wall closing off each end — the elevated bridge section you can drive, or walk, underneath.
Where something passes underneath a raised piece, the inspector also shows the actual clearance against what a car at your scale needs — so you can tell at a glance whether a crossing is comfortably clear or just barely making it.
