Saving & Circuits
A saved layout in Circuit Builder is a circuit. You don’t have to save it yourself — the editor does that continuously, in the background, while you work.
Saving
Edits autosave a second or so after you stop making them, so there’s nothing to remember to click. There’s also a manual shortcut, Ctrl/Cmd+S, if you want to force a save right now rather than wait for the debounce — it does the same thing autosave would have done a moment later. A small indicator beside Undo and Redo in the top bar tells you where things stand: it reads Saving… while an edit is being written and Saved once it has landed. With no connection it reads Offline — saved on this device, and if a save fails outright it reads Not saved. Saved here — sync pending means your edits are on this device but have not reached your account.
Signing in
Choose Log in to use your existing account, or Sign up free to create one. New passwords need at least eight characters. Use the eye button labeled Show password to check what you typed, then Hide password to conceal it again. If an email or password field needs attention, the message appears beside it and the field receives focus.
While a sign-in request is running, the form shows Please wait… and its controls are temporarily unavailable. If it cannot connect, check your connection and try your sign-in method again. Browsing the public gallery does not require an account.
Confirming your account
After signing up, enter the code from your confirmation email in Circuit Builder to finish setting up your account. If it does not arrive, check your spam or junk folder, then choose Resend confirmation email when the countdown ends. Use the code from the newest email; requesting another replaces the previous code. If you try to log in before confirming, the app also offers a way to resend the email.
Your account and offline work
Sign in to enter the editor. While you work, Circuit Builder saves a local copy on this device and syncs it to your account. If your connection drops while the editor is open, keep working; saved local edits sync when you reconnect. Opening or reloading the app offline also depends on the browser having its files and your session available, so keep the tab open when working offline.
Saved here — sync pending means the local copy is safe but your account has not received the latest edits. Not saved means the latest edits may not be stored on this device. Click either status for Retry saving or Export backup, and keep the tab open until your edits are saved or backed up.
My circuits
Open the folder button labeled Circuit menu in the top bar and choose All circuits…. Its My circuits tab shows everything you’ve saved: a grid of every circuit with a thumbnail, ready to open with a click. From there you can rename a circuit, duplicate one to branch off it, publish it, or delete one you no longer need. The other two tabs are Community, the public gallery, and Favorites, the published circuits you’ve saved from it — see Community & Gallery.
The same Circuit menu offers New circuit…, Import circuit…, Download circuit (.cb), and recent circuits. A card marked Open is the circuit already in the editor. Choose its thumbnail or name, or Back to followed by the circuit name in the page header, to resume it without resetting its undo history. Published is a separate badge showing that a public copy exists. The currently open circuit stays first in the grid. When both badges appear, Published comes first and Open comes second.
Opening a different saved circuit starts in Draw → Plan, with Select ready. Returning to the circuit already open preserves its editing history. Use Drive or Build again when you are ready to preview a run or prepare templates.
Action messages
Green alerts confirm completed actions, and red alerts explain failures. Each has an icon and a written message. When an alert offers Retry, Try again, Undo, or Dismiss, its controls appear on the right, centered beside the message. Check the message before retrying; a red alert does not mean the circuit has been deleted. Small field errors stay next to the field that needs correction.
Private versions
For the open circuit, choose Circuit menu → Versions… to open history over the editor. In My circuits, open a circuit’s menu and choose Version history. The dialog shows thumbnails of the current circuit and saved snapshots. Closing it returns you to the editor or circuits list you opened it from. Autosaves create automatic checkpoints at least five minutes apart when the circuit changes. To keep a particular milestone, enter a name and click Save version anytime.
Select a version to compare it with the current circuit at the same scale and position. The comparison summarizes added, removed, and changed elements, plus boundary, width, and elevation changes. Restore this version saves a recovery version of the current circuit before replacing it. You can also rename or delete individual versions.
Versions save on this device first and sync to your account. The dialog shows pending changes; Sync / Retry retries them. Versions stay private when you publish a circuit and are not copied into remixes, duplicates, or ordinary circuit files. To keep the history in a file, choose Private backup with versions. Import that backup through either Import button to bring in both the circuit and its history.
Moving a circuit between devices or accounts
A circuit can also travel as a file, independent of sync. Choose Download circuit (.cb) from the Circuit menu, then bring it back in with Import circuit… in that menu or Import in the My circuits tab, on any device or account. This is how you move a circuit somewhere sync doesn’t reach, like into a different account.
